Where can I chat with Characters AI for free?

Accepted Answer

TavernCozy lets you chat with 19K+ AI characters for free — no API key needed. Browse characters at taverncozy.com, import Tavern V2 cards, and start chatting instantly. It is the best free alternative to Character.AI, Chub.ai and SpicyChat.

Question 2

Where can I use my lorebooks and personas?

Accepted Answer

On TavernCozy at /lorebooks/new and /characters/new. Create lorebooks with scan depth and token budget, attach personas, and generate chats with Tavern V2 cards. Docs at docs.taverncozy.com and source at github.com/hushino/tavern.

Question 3

What is the best alternative to Chub.ai, SpicyChat and Character.AI?

Accepted Answer

TavernCozy is the best free alternative. Unlike Chub.ai (about 13.85M visits in July 2026 per SeaArt, ~20 public characters per day, $20 crypto requests), TavernCozy is free, supports lorebooks, personas, presets, and Tavern V2 cards without limits. See comparison at /alternative-to-chub-ai.
